Leif the Believer

kr 100.00

A Viking from a thousand years ago returns to his home on the shore of a Norwegian fjord . . . and meets a modern Norwegian family.  Leif is on a mission, sent by the Creator who can no longer witness the catastrophes on planet Earth.  He finds much good in the modern world—a school for children, a medical clinic for anyone who is hurt, a grocery store with more food than a Viking could eat in a year—yet he is appalled when he learns—while watching the news on television— about the unending plague of war.

“We laid down our swords a thousand years ago,” he says.  Then he asks, baffled, “With all that you have, why are people still fighting?”

He meets Elisabeth, a teacher of marine biology at the local high school, and learns from her about the growing threat of climate change.  Leif and Elisabeth fall in love; they will complete his mission together.

They each must go alone on a journey—he to witness the war in Iraq, she to witness the parched, burning world of the future, as well as to visit a school where the students give her hope—then they return to the safety of the home on the fjord.

Leif and Elisabeth will sail on his Viking ship, which has been pulled up on the beach, with an extraordinary crew gathered from their journeys.  Together, they will change the course of human history.

Leif the Believer is a tale filled with brutal reality, and yet with enormous hope.

Will you join the crew as Leif and Elisabeth sail on a moonlit night from the mouth of the fjord onto the broad rolling ocean, determined to bring a new beginning to the old battered world?
